OUR SERVICES
Entry door services we offer on Long Island
Whether you are replacing a worn-out front door or upgrading your home’s curb appeal, we handle every type of entry door project.
Fiberglass Entry Doors: The most popular choice on Long Island. Resistant to dents, rot, and salt air corrosion. Available in wood-grain finishes that look like real wood without the maintenance.
Steel Entry Doors: The most affordable and secure option. Ideal for homeowners who prioritize safety and budget. We reinforce the frame and install deadbolt-ready hardware.
Wood Entry Doors: Classic look and solid feel. Best suited for protected entryways where direct weather exposure is limited. We source custom sizes when standard dimensions do not fit.
Sidelite and Transom Combinations: Add sidelites and transoms around your entry door for more natural light and a finished look. All glass is tempered and insulated.
Round Top and Custom Shape Doors: Older Long Island homes, especially Tudor and Colonial styles, often need non-standard door shapes. We custom-order round top and arched doors to match your home’s architecture.
Front Door Replacement with Frame: When the frame is rotted or out of square, we replace the entire unit down to the studs. New frame, new door, new hardware, properly flashed and sealed.

FAQ
Common questions about entry doors
How much does a new entry door cost on Long Island?
Entry door pricing varies based on material, style, glass inserts, hardware, and whether the frame needs replacing. A standard fiberglass entry door with installation typically starts around $1,400. ProVia fiberglass doors with sidelites and custom finishes run higher. We provide a free written estimate at your home so there are no surprises.
How long does entry door installation take?
Most single entry door replacements are completed in one day. If the frame needs to be replaced or if sidelites and transoms are part of the project, it may take a second day. We give you a clear timeline before the work starts.
What is the best entry door material for Long Island?
Fiberglass is the most popular choice. It resists dents, rot, and salt air corrosion better than wood or steel. Steel is the most affordable and most secure. Wood looks classic but requires more upkeep, especially on the South Shore where moisture and salt exposure are higher. We can walk you through all three at our showroom.
Do you handle the door frame too, or just the door?
Both. If your frame is solid and square, we can install a new door into the existing frame. If the frame is rotted, warped, or damaged, we replace the entire unit including the frame, threshold, and weatherstripping. We check this during the free estimate.
Are your installers licensed and insured?
Yes. Mikita Door & Window is a licensed home improvement contractor, EPA Lead Safe Certified, and fully insured.
Can I see door options before I order?
Yes. Our Freeport showroom has entry door displays from ProVia, Pella, and Andersen. You can see finishes, glass styles, and hardware in person. The showroom is open Monday through Thursday 9am to 6pm and Friday through Saturday 9am to 4pm.
Do you handle windows in homes built before 1978?
Yes. We are EPA Lead Safe Certified, which means we follow federally required lead-safe work practices when disturbing painted surfaces in older homes. This includes containment, cleanup protocols, and proper disposal.
Will a new front door improve my home's energy efficiency?
A properly sealed, insulated entry door eliminates air leaks that drive up heating and cooling costs. Fiberglass and steel doors with polyurethane foam cores have significantly better insulation values than older wood or hollow-core doors. On Long Island, where energy costs run well above the national average, this makes a measurable difference.
Can you match my existing sidelites or transom to the new door?
In most cases, yes. We can order matching sidelites and transoms from the same manufacturer to ensure consistent style, finish, and glass pattern. If your existing sidelites are in good shape, we can also install just the door and leave the existing glass in place.
How do I choose between a single door and a double door entry?
It depends on the width of your opening and how you use the space. Double doors work well for wide entryways and give a more open feel. Single doors with sidelites give you natural light without needing the extra clearance. We measure your opening during the estimate and show you what fits.
